Sunset and sunrise pictures by the sea can be quite magical when taken in the orange and blue hours. But the picture can be completely empty if you don't remember the most important thing about landscape pictures. Foreground, foreground & again foreground.
Okay, there is actually a little more than just the foreground and keep in mind. Here are some of the important elements of a sunset / sunrise image.
1. Get in good time, spend time and study the area. What do you want to photograph, where does the sun come to her and where is the perfect foreground.
2. The sun should never be the main motif in your image. Try and find a composition where it is not in the center, either by "foreground" or simply move the camera until the sun is out of the picture and only photograph the beautiful colors in the sky.

3. Take advantage of longer closing times such as, 05-1.5 or 5-10 seconds, for and make the water silky soft or foggy. Keep in mind that it requires ND filter & photo stand.
4. Never overexpose, as you can straighten an underexposed image on the computer.
5. One last thing, it's super important and keep the horizon straight. New camera can display an electronic spirit level / virtual horizon in live view.
I want to go a little more in detail about the golden hours also called the blue hours, ND filter & photo stand tenders here in the blog.
